Michel Cramer-Bornemann, M.D., DABSM:

His topics will be “Sleep and Violence” and “Sexsomnia”.  Dr. Cramer-Bornemann is a US boarded Pulmonologist and Sleep Specialist and is the Founder/Lead Investigator of Sleep Forensics Associates where he works alongside noted Parasomnia research pioneers, Mark W. Mahowald, M.D. and Carlos H. Schenck, M.D., in furthering understanding the spectrum of complex behaviors that may arise from Parasomnias along with its social and legal implications.  The work of Sleep Forensics Associates has been highlighted in the international media including feature articles in Scientific American and the BBC.  He has been very involved with the American Academy of Sleep Medicine having been the task force chair of the Parasomnia subsection for the most recent version of the International Classification of Sleep Disorders 3rd edition (ICSD-3) and has been a member of the Parasomnia Steering Committee.

Dr. Cramer-Bornemann will discuss a series of actual criminal cases that potentially may be explained by Sleep-Related Violence and will state the legal implications of each.

Sexsomnia is considered a type of parasomnia, an abnormal activity, behavior, or experience that occurs during deep sleep.  Learn more about this by attending our conference and his presentations!

Michelle Cao, M.D., DABSM:

Dr. Michelle Cao is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Division of Sleep Medicine and Division of Neuromuscular Medicine, at the Stanford University School of Medicine.

Her clinical expertise is in complex sleep-related respiratory disorders and home mechanical ventilation for chronic respiratory failure syndromes.

She directs the Non-Invasive Ventilation Program for the Stanford Neuromuscular Medicine Center. Dr. Cao is board certified in Pulmonology, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine. Her topics will be “Advances in Home Mechanical Ventilation” and “Opioids and CSA”.

Subash Shanthakumar , M.D. Respiratory & Sleep MBBS, MD, FRACP

Dr. Subash is a Senior Lecturer at Flinders University – College of Medicine and Public Health, Adelaide, South Australia, Australia. In Christian Medical College and Hospital, Vellore, India, he was a consultant in General Medicine and Respiratory Medicine from 1997 to 2003. From 2003 to 2010 – a fellow and consultant at Flinders Medical center/Repatriation General Hospital Adelaide. Adelaide institute for sleep health, Adelaide, Australia and at Lyell McEwin Hospital, Adelaide, Australia in Internal Medicine, Respiratory and sleep.

Currently, he is the Director, Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, Royal Darwin Hospital & Darwin Private Hospital. Darwin. NT. Australia since 2011.

Dr. Subash is a member of the Thoracic society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ), American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), Royal Australian college of Physicians (RACP), Australian Respiratory and Sleep Medicine  Institute (ARSMI), American college of chest physicians (ACCP), European Respiratory Society (ERS), Fellow- Asian Pacific Society of Respirology (APSR), The Indian chest society (ICS) and Indian society of critical care Medicine (ISCCM).

He has over 50 peer reviewed publications in medical journals with ongoing research activities addressing sleep apnea, Bronchiectasis, & COPD in Indigenous population and is actively contributing in national and international meetings presenting research papers and providing lectures.

Premthip Chalidapongse, DDS, MSc, Ph.D.

Dr. Premthip Chalidapongse DDS., MSc., PhD. Serves as the Assistant Professor (UCL-Eastman Dental Institute, U. of London), International certificant American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine, Thai Board of Occlusion and Orofacial Pain.  Dr. Chalidapongse is part of the Orofacial Pain & TMDs and Dental Sleep Medicine, Department of Stomatology, Faculty of Dentistry, Prince of Songkla University.  Her topic will be “Oral Appliance Treatment in OSA”.

VIRGINIA S. DE LOS REYES, MD, FPCCP, MHPEd, DWASM

 Dr. de los Reyes is the current president of the ASEAN Sleep Federation. She was also the past president of the Philippine Society of Sleep Medicine.

She is currently the Program Director of the Sleep Medicine Fellowship Program for the Lung Center of the Philippines.

She performed her clinical fellowship in Sleep Medicine at Stanford University Medical Center.

Dr. de los Reyes is a Diplomate of the World Association of Sleep Medicine, has a Masters in Health Profession Education. Also serving as an Associate Professor for the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health. A member and Executive Board of the Philippine College of Chest Physicians, and was the past Chair for the Council on Sleep Medicine, Philippine College of Chest Physicians.

Kevin Asp, CRT, RPSGT

Kevin Asp has been in the field of sleep medicine for over 25 years. During his experience he has been the president and founder of 3 separate sleep medicine programs, Sleep Technology Institute, SomnoSure, and Alaska Sleep Clinic. The Alaska Sleep Clinic has been touted as the most trafficked sleep center website in the world with over 6 million visitors annually visiting the site.  He  has an ability to identify opportunities within the market to differentiate services. He also has a unique and hyper-focused niche as the current president of a content marketing agency, inboundMed, which has proven to be able to reverse engineer processes necessary to obtain the goals and objectives of its clients. He  believes that “Attention is your biggest Asset” in the digital world of marketing today and he hopes to share a bit of his vision on how and why you should implement this philosophy in your marketing efforts today!

Brett McLaren, MSc, RPSGT

Brett McLaren, MSc (Sleep in Medicine), Postgrad Dip Ed, BSc (Hons), RPSGT.

Brett McLaren has experience in the field gathered over the past 24 years, beginning as a Sleep Scientist for Melbourne’s St. Vincent’s Hospital in 1994.

In 2002 he accepted a position as Chief Scientist of a five-bedded Sleep laboratory in Melbourne’s Cabrini Hospital, after having served almost 9 years with St. Vincent’s and Western Hospitals.

He accepted a posting to ResMed Asia Pacific’s Sydney office in late 2003 as Product and Clinical Specialist for Asia, evolving into his present position as Clinical Education and Program Design Manager for Emerging Markets Asia based in Singapore. Skilled in Sleep and Respiratory Diagnostics and Therapies, Clinical and Commercial Sales and Life Sciences with a Master’s focused in Sleep in Medicine from University of Sydney.
Brett’s interests are in the development of simplified models of diagnosis and treatment of sleep disordered breathing with special focus on sleep wellness.

Khem Ballaho, MBA, RPSGT

Khem Ballaho has 19 years of experience in polysomnography. He graduated in April 2000 from Electroneurodiagnostics School while on U.S. Navy active duty at the Naval School for Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, U.S.A., with focus on electroencephalography, evoked potential, and polysomnography. He has a bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Master’s in Business Administration & a certificate in Ayurvedic Health Educator.

He is currently the president of SleepA2Z Business Center Corporation and an affiliate member of the Philippine Society of Sleep Medicine.

He serves as the Technical Director for the Far Eastern University-Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation Snoring & Sleep Center, Fairview, Manila, Tagaytay Medical Center’s Snoring & Sleep Center in Tagaytay, Cavite, Philippines, and as the course director for SleepA2Z’s Polysomnographic Technology Course. 

He is a consulting lecturer for various sleep centers and sleep companies in Asia, and recently became a polysomnographer for Nyx Sleep Center, Santa Clarita as well as for Paradise Valley Hospital Sleep Center in San Diego, California, U.S.A.


RANILO TUAZON, DDS

Dr. Ranilo Tuazon is a dentist at Vacaville Dental Care, Vacaville, California from March 2005 – present.

An advocate of Airway Centric Orthodontics and Dental Sleep Medicine who helps kids and adults develop faces that produce beautiful, healthy, and straight teeth that can breathe well, eat well, and sleep well.

For the past 27 years in dental private practice and 3 years in academic Orthodontics, Dr. Tuazon have helped educate patients, parents, and healthcare professionals about the benefits of the Airway Centric Dentistry and Orthodontics.

His mission is to integrate a beautiful smile with a better functioning body by practicing a philosophy that integrates airway into TMJ, Orthopedic, Orthodontic, and Pedodontic diagnosis and treatment.

He graduated from the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) College of Dentistry and the Graduate School in Orthodontics, University of the Philippines.

He has special training through the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine Mastery Course, Invisalign, Wilckodontics (Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics) in Santa Clara, California and Chicago, Illinois respectively as well as the UCSF School of Dentistry for Dental Laser Education and lastly, on Multiloop Edgewise Archwire (MEAW Technique) in Washington, D.C.

 He is also a membership of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, American Dental Association, and the American Association of Orthodontists.

JENNIFER TUAZON, BSDH, OMT

Jennifer Tuazon is a Registered Dental Hygienist and an Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist since 2012.

She attended West Coast University, Anaheim CA, for her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene in 2011 and the Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy for her Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist training in 2017.

Jennifer Tuazon evaluates and treats Orofacial Myofunctional Disorder in collaboration with IBCLC, Otolaryngologist, Orthodontists, and Airway Centric Dentists. She also provides individual therapy and group therapy for patients with Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders.

She mentioned that “An open and functioning airway is my top priority in the well-being of children, teens, and adults. I have taught this method to dentists, orthodontists, and medical doctors through seminars, workshops, and mini residencies locally and internationally.”

 Lastly, she is a member of the California Dental Hygiene Association and the   World Clinical Laser Institute Associate Fellowship.
